The parliament of France passed a law on Friday which banned excessively skinny fashion models. The legislation also said that those advertisements which have been photo shopped carry a message noting that the images have been manipulated.
Fashion models and modeling agents, whoever won’t obey the law will going to face a penalty of over $80,000 and up to 6 months jail too.
The models who are going to walk on the runway should be at least 18 years old before being hired and a girl having 5’10 height should weigh 12.5 pounds.
The lower house parliament also passed an additional law that prohibiting pro-anorexia websites will face over $100,000 in fines and up to a year in prison.
France joins Italy, Spain and Israel as the latest country to legislate against companies using dangerously thin models.
