Daily Yogurt Intake Does Not Improve Health: Research

health benefits of yogurt

A new study shows that daily consumption of yogurt does not improve health.

Previously, several researches showed that regular intake of yogurt improves health related quality life. It contains 20 percent more protein as compared to milk that helps in absorption of nutrients. It significantly boosts the immune system and reduces the risk of lethal diseases. Additionally, it cut down the amount of daily fat intake.

Health-related quality life is a notion that includes all aspects related to mental, emotional and physical health. It is beyond the conventional concept of life expectancy and risks of fatal diseases. In other words, it evaluates the positive domains of a person’s life.

Recently, researchers performed an extensive study to determine the affect of yogurt on health. They followed around 4,445 Spanish people for approximately three and a half years. They observed the routine yogurt consumption of the participants. The health-related quality life was measured in the start and end of the study.

The end result of the study rebuffs all the previous misconceptions regarding yogurt. It reveals that the health of people who eat yogurt daily is similar to the ones who take one serving of yogurt in a week.

Esther Lopez-Garcia, main author of the study, talked about the study in detail. She said that regular consumption of yogurt is not associated to improvement in health. However, further research along with special instruments is needed to find the benefits of yogurt.

The findings are printed in the Journal of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
